Improvisation on a Simple Melody π΅π¬
My improvisations usually orbit harmony, texture, and rhythm, but not so much melody.
Melody feels too exposed. Maddeningly simple, but also difficult to do convincingly.
This piece was based on a constraint: start with a simple melodic motif, stick to it, and see how far you can go.
Even the piano needs to sing.
